INTRODUCTION

This prospectus contains the rules and regulations applicable for selection and admission to B.Tech Course in SIST run by Space Engineers’ Welfare Society. 50% of the seats are filled by the Government from the Rank list of the Common Entrance Examination conducted by the Govt. of Kerala. The remaining 35 % of seats are filed by the management from the Rank list of common Entrance Examination and balance 5 % from NRIs. The procedure for admission to all seats other than those for the Children/dependents of NRI is also presented.

This prospectus is subject to modification/addition/deletion as may be deemed necessary by the Management subject to further orders if any Government/AICTE/Kerala Technological University(KTU)/Court of Law.

COURSES OFFERED

CRITERIA OF ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION

• CITIZENSHIP

  Candidate must be a citizen of India. As per the regulations issued by the AICTE/University/Entrance Commissioner regarding the criteria of eligibility for admission and procedure for selection to the Engineering course.

• ACADEMIC
  A Pass in Higher Secondary Examination of the Board of Higher Secondary Education of Govt. of Kerala or any examination equivalent thereto with at least fifty percent marks in Mathematics separately and aggregate of fifty percent marks in Physics and Chemistry/equivalent subjects put together or equivalent grade for 50% of Merit seats , and aggregate of 45% marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry/equivalent subjects put together or equivalent grade for 50% Management seats. Candidates belongs to Socially and Educationally backward classes will have a relaxation of 5% marks in the qualifying examination. The scheduled caste and scheduled tribe candidates need only a pass in the qualifying examination
• LATERAL ENTRY

  A pass in Diploma in Engineering awarded by the State Board of Technical Education or Equivalent after undergoing regular course of 3 years in an approved Institution and having a minimum of 60% marks in the final year. Eligible candidates are admitted in third Semester.

• AGE LIMIT

  Applicant should be completed 17 years of age at the time of Admission.

• AGE LIMIT (Lateral Entry)

  Maximum age as on the last date of admission of application will be 28 years.

HOW TO APPLY

• The Propspectus along with the application form can be obtained from the College office on payment of Rs.300.

• Application can be submitted on the forms available with the prospectus.

  Application from can be downloaded from the website www.sist.in. Such applications have to be submitted along with a DD of Rs.300/- drawn in favour of The Principal, Sarabhai Institute of Science and Technology, payable at Thiruvananthapuram.

• The duly filled in application along with self attested copies of necessary documents should be submitted directly or by registered post with A/D to the College Office so as to reach the Office on or before the prescribed date. Applicants shall obtain acknowledgement from the Office for applications submitted directly.

• Applications submitted to the Office should be complete in all respects. The candidate should fill in all the items in the application form in his/her own handwriting.

• The following self attested copies of certificates/documents shall be submitted along with the application.
  • 10th/12th certiicate in proof of date of birth.
  • Admit card of the Common Entrance Examination conducted by the Commissioner for Entrance Examination, Govt. of Kerala.
  • Mark list of qualifying examination and entrance examination.

• Selection for Management Quota will be strictly on merit, rank list published by Commissioner Entrance Examination, Govt. of Kerala. Selected candidates have to appear for an Interview before the final selection without fail.

• ADMISSION  Selected candidates shall take admission at the scheduled time in the College after paying the tuition fee and other fees failing which the admission will be cancelled.

• Liquidated Damages: If a candidate leaves the College after the closure of admission, he/she will be liable for forfeiture of the fees and also will be liable to pay liquidated damages equivalent to tuition fee for the remaining three years.

  • Passport size photograph (2 Nos.) and stamp size (1 No.)
  • Original Cash Receipt from Bank (for merit quota students only)
  • Migration Certificate, if applcable

REDRESSAL OF GRIEVANCE

Any grievance/complaint regarding selection or admission may be brought to the notice of the management within 24 hours of occurrence of the grievance.

PROHIBITION OF RAGGING

Ragging/ any type of misconduct towards any students either in the College campus or outside will be considered as criminal offences and will be seriously dealt with. Perpetrators will not be permitted to continue their studies. Students and parents, at the time of admission, should furnish an affidavit to the effect that the students shall not indulge in ragging which is a crime punishable under the existing rules which are well displayed everywhere in the campus on flex boards for awareness of students.

Admission for NRI Dependents ( 5% of approved seats *)

As per the regulation issued  by the government of Kerala/AICTE regarding the % of allotment and eligibility.

2 .      Sponsorship: Parents of NRIs can avail the facility.

3 .      Documents to be submitted  : Copy of Passport, Visa.
